Need to be closer to the GO Station? You might want the Corktown, Durand or maybe even the Kirkendall neighbourhoods. How about near the water by Bayfront Park and Pier 4 in the Bayfront Neighbourhood(this is one of Hamilton's up and coming areas!)? Do you have University students? Then you may choose the Westdale area, or you might consider some of the beautiful neighborhoods in Dundas, Ancaster, or Stoney Creek!
Are you thinking of moving to the Hamilton Mountain Area?
West Mountain neighborhoods include Mountview, Westcliffe, Gourley to name a few. You'll find Hill Park, Macassa & Rushdale on the Central Mountain, and on the East Mountain, there are the popular family neighborhoods of Huntington and Templemead.

Whichever areas you are thinking about, your WHOLE family needs to be considered when you are trying to select a new neighbourhood in which to live. Do not just look for the things that you want. For example, you may want to live close to work so that you do not have to drive as far in the morning. If there are not any good neighbourhoods that fit this bill through, you should not choose to live somewhere that is not ideal for everyone else. It is essential that you select the right area to live before you even begin looking at different houses that are for sale.Remember, commuting is pretty easy when you are close to the highways like 403, QEW Toronto, QEW Niagara.
Hamilton is less than 60 minutes to Toronto, Niagara Falls, and the USA!!
It may be a good idea to sit down and make a list of all of the things that your other family members want in their new neighbourhood. For instance, the children may want to have a park nearby so that they can run and play with their friends (like Churchill Park in Westdale Village or Mohawk Sports Park on the East Mountain in the Lisgar area). If so, you need to add this to the list so that you do not choose a neighbourhood that contains nothing but other homes. After you have compiled the list, you can use it to find places to live that contain all of the different features that your family members want.
When making this list, you also need to consider the different things that the neighbourhood will offer to all of you. Are you looking for areas with mostly detached homes, that are 1-floor bungalows, 2 storeys, back splits or side splits?
Or, are you thinking about more about areas with townhomes and condominiums?
Perhaps your children have hobbies, such as playing hockey (Andreychuck Mountain Arena) or riding horses (Caledonia, Mount Hope or Binbrook area). You need to find them a place to live where these options will still be available to them. Do not move so far away from the nearest rink or the nearest riding trails that your children have to give up the things that they love. Remember that they will have no way to get to these things on their own, so it is up to you to make sure that they can still have all of the experiences that they need growing up.
There are many things that you need to consider that do not involve fun and recreation. You must look at the schools to make sure that your children will be able to get a great education. You must look at the crime rates so that you know that they will be safe when they are outside. It may even be wise to look at things such as the proximity of the local hospitals or the fire department so that you can be sure that there will be a short response time in case an emergency occurs. It is imperative that you think of all of the things that could happen in the future, not just your immediate needs and desires.
The final thing to consider is harder to qualify because it is different for everyone. You need to pick a neighbourhood where you feel comfortable. Some people like large green spaces and winding roads. Others prefer straight roads and easy access to stores and highways. You need to take the time to figure out what your family desires so that you can find a place where everyone will be happy to live.
